FAMILY SESSIONS
Information and advice to help you plan for your photoshoot!
If you’re looking at this page it’s because you’ve booked a family photoshoot with me! Thank you so much! I’m really looking forward to capturing you and your loved ones! Bring on the joy!
WHAT TO EXPECT
These sessions are kept really relaxed and informal! I’ll be gently guiding you through different areas of the beautiful landscape, but ultimately allowing you to interact naturally as a family! We’ll keep things light and fun, enjoying where we are and allowing children and dogs to run free when needed!
WHAT TO WEAR
Perhaps look at Pinterest for some outfit inspiration.
Please wear pastel, neutral or dark colours. If possible, please avoid wearing bright colours, especially bright reds, oranges, pinks and yellows. If it’s a sunny day, the sun bounces off your bright coloured clothing and reflects on to your face giving it a coloured tinge. Not ideal!
Try and think or your outfits together, rather than separate outfits.
Please avoid fine patterns such as thin stripes as this can cause a moiré effect in digital images (waves and swirly patterns). Google ‘moiré’and you’ll see what I mean!
LOCATION
We will be meeting on the Wells-next-the-Sea beach.
Once you have parked in the main car park next to the Wells Beach cafe, please ensure you’ve paid for parking. There are toilets and a cafe so feel free to use those facilities before making your way to the beach.
When you arrive on to the beach, turn left and walk to the end of the row of beach huts. There are some sand dunes where the photoshoot will take place. I’ll look out for you!
Please allow 10 minutes to leisurely walk to this spot from the car park.
IF YOU’re BRINGING YOUR BABY
Please feel free to feed your baby or change their nappy during your photoshoot :)
Perhaps bring a back-up outfit for your baby in case of any sick-ups or dribble!
Please bring muslins for your shoulders in case any sick ups land on you immediately after feeding!
If your baby responds to certain toys (especially ones that make noises), please bring it along as I can use it to keep the baby’s attention during the photoshoot :)
If your baby falls asleep, that’s OK!
IF YOU’re BRINGING YOUR DOG
Please only bring your dog if it’s well behaved and responsive. If it’s distracting you, you won’t look relaxed in your photographs and will limit the amount of time to we have to snap to lovely images.
I understand that dogs are like extra members of the family, so if they are a little hyper and you’d still like to bring them along, perhaps think about bringing someone with you to hold your dog for some of the photos or bring along a beach dog stake. We will be near trees so you could always bring a long lead to attach to the trees if you don’t have a stake.
Bring lots of treats!
WHAT IF RAIN OR HIGH WINDS ARE FORECAST?
A few days before your photoshoot date, I’ll be keeping an eye on the weather forecast. If I feel there could be risk of rain or high winds, I’ll provide you with the following options:
Reschedule for a different day.
Commit to your chosen date and embrace the weather! We may have to take a little more shelter under the trees in the pine forest for your photographs and I will bring clear umbrellas for when we’re on the dunes! Please bring warm layers and a hair brush if you choose this option! If the high winds are going to feel too dangerous, I will advise on rescheduling your photoshoot.
MAKE A DAY OF IT!
Depending on where you’re coming from, you may want to make a day out of it! Here are some recommendations for some activities nearby…
Crabbing on the Wells Harbour. There are little seaside shops in the town you can buy crabbing buckets and kits.
